Why Attendance Matters!
Regular attendance in all classes is an expectation of all Austin ISD students. State law and District policy state that students must be in attendance for 90% of the instructional days for a class to receive credit. A student who misses more days than allowed by AISD policy, excused or unexcused, may not be given credit for that class unless time and/or work is made up for the absences. Students will work with the grade level administrator to complete the appropriate steps to reach compliance.

Missing a day of school here and there may not seem like much, but...
When a student misses 2 days a month...
They will miss
20 days
a year.
They will miss
30 hours of math
over the school year.
They will miss
60 hours of reading and writing
over the school year.
They will miss over
1 year of school
by graduation.
When a student misses 4 days a month..
They will miss
40 days
a year.
They will miss
60 hours of math
over the school year.
They will miss
120 hours of reading and writing
over the school year.
They will miss over
2 year of school
by graduation.
¡Por qué es importante la asistencia!
Se espera que todos los estudiantes de Austin ISD asistan regularmente a todas sus clases. Las leyes estatales y las normas del Distrito establecen que los estudiantes deben asistir al 90 % de los días lectivos para obtener créditos en una clase. Un estudiante que falte más días de los permitidos por la normativa de AISD —ya sea con o sin justificación— podría no recibir crédito por dicha clase, a menos que recupere el tiempo o realice las actividades académicas correspondientes a las ausencias. Los estudiantes trabajarán con el administrador de su nivel de grado para completar los pasos necesarios y cumplir con los requisitos.
